Δεν μου είναι εύκολο να μιλάω για τον εαυτό μου. Ίσως γιατί η δουλειά μου δεν ξεκινά ποτέ από μένα, αλλά από τον χώρο και τους ανθρώπους που θα τον ζήσουν.
5 μικρές συνήθειες ...
που φανερώνουν ποια είμαι. Με τα χρόνια συνειδητοποίησα ότι υπάρχουν μερικές μικρές συνήθειες που με ακολουθούν σε κάθε έργο που αναλαμβάνω. Είναι ο τρόπος που παρατηρώ, οραματίζομαι και προσεγγίζω έναν χώρο πριν ακόμη αρχίσει η διαμόρφωσή του.
Η διακόσμηση είναι μέρος της ζωής μου.
Δεν τη σκέφτηκα ποτέ μόνο ως επάγγελμα. Είναι ένας τρόπος να αντιλαμβάνομαι τον χώρο και τη ζωή μέσα σε αυτόν. Να δημιουργώ ένα σπίτι που αφηγείται την ιστορία των ανθρώπων που το ζουν.
Όταν μπαίνω σ’ έναν χώρο, νιώθω ότι στέκομαι μόνη μου μέσα του.
Η πρώτη μου συνήθεια είναι να παρατηρώ σιωπηλή. Να βλέπω πώς μπαίνει το φως, πού πέφτει το βλέμμα, πού ταιριάζει τι. Πριν αρχίσει οποιαδήποτε σκέψη για έπιπλα ή χρώματα, χρειάζεται να καταλάβω τον ίδιο τον χώρο.
Ακούω περισσότερο απ’ όσο μιλάω.
Οι επισκέπτες στο κατάστημά μου συχνά δεν μπορούν να περιγράψουν ακριβώς τι θέλουν ή χρειάζονται. Μέσα από τις συζητήσεις μας, όμως, εμφανίζονται εκείνες οι μικρές λεπτομέρειες που φανερώνουν τις αληθινές τους επιθυμίες και τελικά τον χαρακτήρα του σπιτιού τους.
Δεν αφήνω τίποτα στην τύχη.
Από τη θέση ενός τραπεζιού μέχρι το χρώμα στο μαξιλάρι της πολυθρόνας, κάθε επιλογή που προτείνω είναι μελετημένη. Γιατί νιώθω κάθε χώρο σαν ένα ζωντανό οργανισμό που χρειάζεται τη δική του ιδιαίτερη φροντίδα.
Με ενδιαφέρει πώς θ’ αποκτήσει ζωή ένας χώρος, όχι μόνο πώς θα φαίνεται.
Η αισθητική είναι σημαντική, αλλά δεν είναι το μόνο που με απασχολεί. Ο χώρος χρειάζεται να είναι λειτουργικός, να σας εξυπηρετεί και να σας κάνει να νιώθετε ότι σας ανήκει πραγματικά.
